Your screenshots, sorted — without leaving your phone.

Screenshot Inbox finds the screenshots in your photo library, reads them on your iPhone, and files each one into an ordinary Photos album: Products, Events, Recipes, Conversations, or Reminders. Anything it is not sure about waits in Needs Review with its reasoning shown, and albums you create fill themselves from keywords you choose. Then it helps you act — add an event to your calendar, save a reminder, keep a wishlist, or summarize a conversation.

If you screenshot everything and can never find it later, and you would rather not hand those screenshots to anyone, this is for you. There is no account and no server, and the app never connects to the internet, so it works in Airplane Mode. It never deletes a photo on its own: cleanup suggestions arrive with nothing selected, and iOS asks you to confirm every deletion.

Features

Filing that explains itself

  • Finds the screenshots in your photo library and reads their text on your iPhone.
  • Files each one into an ordinary Photos album — Products, Events, Recipes, Conversations, or Reminders — that you can open in Photos like any other.
  • Sends anything it is not sure about to Needs Review instead of guessing, and shows why it chose a category and how confident it is.
  • Spots when a screenshot could fit a second category, and lets you make that the category with one tap.
  • Learns from your corrections on your iPhone, and forgets them whenever you clear them in Settings.
  • Lets you set how sure it must be before filing, and how strictly: Cautious, Balanced, or Decisive.

Albums you define

  • Create your own albums with a name, a symbol, and a color. Each one appears in Photos too.
  • Give an album a few keywords — a store name, a phrase — and new screenshots whose text contains one are filed there.
  • Put your albums in order to decide which one wins when a screenshot matches more than one.
  • File any screenshot into an album by hand, one at a time or many at once from Needs Review.

Act on what you captured

  • Add an event to your calendar or a to-do to Reminders from a draft you can edit. Nothing is added until you tap Add.
  • Save products to a wishlist grouped by retailer, with running totals and a check-off for what you bought.
  • Turn a recipe's ingredients into one shopping reminder.
  • Summarize a conversation and pull out its action items.
  • See the details that matter — prices, dates, addresses, ratings, confirmation numbers, servings, cook times — and copy them in one tap.

Find and tidy

  • Browse everything in a grid you can filter by category and sort by date or confidence.
  • Turn on search to find a screenshot by any word in it, with room for small typos and related words such as receipt and invoice.
  • Work through Needs Review in bulk: approve suggestions, assign a category or album, or exclude many screenshots at once.
  • Clean Up points out screenshots that look finished — past events, old product pages, items left unreviewed for months — and near-duplicates, with nothing pre-selected.
  • Deleted screenshots go to Recently Deleted in Photos, where you can get them back for 30 days.

Works beyond the app

  • File a screenshot from the share sheet in another app, without opening Screenshot Inbox.
  • Ask Siri or use the Shortcuts app to scan, check how many screenshots need review, open a category or album, or file your latest screenshot.
  • Checks for new screenshots each time you open the app, and in the background when iOS allows.
  • An optional notification, made on your iPhone, tells you what a background scan filed.

Privacy you control

  • Withholds the text of screenshots that look like they hold a one-time code, a card number, a password, or an account balance. On by default.
  • Turn off storing recognized text altogether, and screenshots are still filed.
  • Clear everything the app has read, or reset it completely, from Settings. Your photos are never touched.
  • Keeps its data out of iCloud and computer backups.
  • Export your whole library to a file whenever you want a copy.

Why you can trust it

Screenshot Inbox has no account, no servers, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code. It never connects to the internet, and an automated test fails if anything that could reach the network is ever added. Screenshots stored only in iCloud are never downloaded; the app asks you to open them in Photos first.

It never deletes or edits a photo on its own. Clean Up only suggests; you pick each screenshot, and iOS asks you to confirm. The app is also plain about what it hands to iOS: albums you file into, events and reminders you add, and text you copy — which stays on this iPhone and expires after five minutes.

Version updates

Screenshot Inbox is not on the App Store yet. The app has carried version 1.0.0 throughout development, so these are dated preview builds rather than numbered releases.

  1. Testing build

    Pre-release

    Fixes from hands-on testing

    • Tapping a screenshot in Needs Review opens its details again.
    • Clean Up and Settings open as full sections from the scroll wheel, and every section on the wheel is easy to see.
    • Confidence percentages round down, so a screenshot just under your threshold never looks like it met it.
    • Deadlines such as Due Friday land on the day they name, and a reminder due on a day no longer gets a noon time.
    • Star ratings and times printed beside a date are read correctly, and recipes keep ingredients listed without a measurement.

  2. Details build

    Richer details, smarter cleanup

    • Details screens show more when a screenshot labels it: ratings, promotions, availability, confirmation numbers, organizers, servings, and prep and cook times.
    • Reminders can suggest a person and notes, and recipes show their steps and source.
    • All-day events show as days, and an event's end appears when one was found.
    • Clean Up no longer suggests screenshots you filed into your own albums by hand, and judges an event by its last date.
    • Exports note when a screenshot's text was withheld as sensitive.

  3. Review fixes build

    Event locations and filing fixes

    • Events pick up the street address printed on the screenshot, so a calendar event can carry its location.
    • Multi-day events reach your calendar as the full range, and are not suggested for cleanup until they end.
    • A Siri shortcut that starts the app now opens the album or category you asked for.
    • Deleting one of your albums frees its screenshots to be filed by keywords again.
    • The app no longer reports a screenshot as filed when Photos refused to move it.

  4. Albums build

    Albums, Clean Up, sharing, and Shortcuts

    • Create albums of your own that fill themselves from keywords, and choose how strict filing should be.
    • Work through Needs Review in bulk, and see a second likely category on any screenshot.
    • A new Clean Up section suggests stale screenshots and near-duplicates, with nothing pre-selected.
    • File screenshots from the share sheet, and use six Siri and Shortcuts actions.
    • Search forgives small typos and finds related words, your wishlist gets its own screen, and you can export your library to a file.
    • Text from screenshots that look like they hold codes, card numbers, passwords, or balances is withheld by default.

  5. Privacy audit build

    Privacy and data-safety audit

    • The app's data stays out of iCloud and computer backups, and gets stronger file protection from iOS.
    • With full Photos access, deleting a screenshot in Photos deletes the text the app stored for it, and hiding one no longer counts as deleting it.
    • Copied text stays on this iPhone and expires after five minutes.
    • Turning off Store recognized text offers to delete text already stored.
    • Scan Now explains when it cannot run, and screenshots that could not be read get their own count on the Dashboard.

  6. Search build

    Offline search and data controls

    • Opt-in search finds screenshots by the words in them, entirely on your iPhone.
    • New Clear local extracted data and Reset app controls in Settings.
    • Deleting stored text now removes everything read from a screenshot, not only its main text.
    • A storage problem no longer erases your library: the app warns you and leaves your data in place.

  7. First complete build

    The first working app

    • Finds your screenshots, reads them on your iPhone, and files them into six Photos albums, with Needs Review for anything uncertain.
    • Add events to Calendar and to-dos to Reminders from editable drafts, and save products to a wishlist.
    • Summarizes conversations on the device and learns from your corrections.
    • Scans in the background when iOS allows, with an optional summary notification.
    • Scroll-wheel navigation, with a standard tab bar if you prefer.
